Warm and comforting Berry Cinnamon Cream of Wheat is a wholesome dish to start off your day.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for so many reasons. For me, I like to think of it as the meal that sets the tone for how the rest of my day will be. That’s why I always try to make something comforting and heart-warming for breakfast, especially to pair with a hot cup of coffee.
Okay, let me back up, because COFFEE! Ahhhh I love the way it sounds when I hear the coffee being poured into the cup… The way it smells when it’s freshly brewed… And of course, the way it tastes when I add my favorite creamer. (p.s. Am I the only one who’s mesmerized by watching creamer being poured into a cup?)
Let’s be honest, we all have a favorite creamer. I actually have a new favorite creamer every couple of months. But no joke, when I tried International Delight Simply Pure Coffee Creamer, I knew I was in it for the long haul. This simple creamer takes the cake!
I was at Walmart looking over the usual creamers when it caught my eye. It comes in three flavors: Vanilla, Caramel, and Hazelnut. I grabbed Hazelnut because I knew it would complement the cinnamon in my Berry Cinnamon Cream of Wheat, but I’m definitely going back for Vanilla and Caramel!
The new International Delight Simply Pure creamers are surprisingly delicious considering they’re just… simply pure. They’re made with 5 simple ingredients, including real milk, cream, and sugar. It’s such a relief to know that I’ve found the perfect creamer for my daily cup of coffee.
So what goes with the perfect cup of coffee and creamer? This berry cinnamon cream of wheat! My mom used to always make this for me when I was a kid and being picky about what to have for breakfast – but I never said no to cream of wheat. And she always completely disregarded the instructions on the back of the box and made up her own.
If you’ve never made cream of wheat, it’s super easy. You boil a little bit of milk, add a little butter, salt, sugar, and boxed cream of wheat mix. Then you stir, stir, stir, stir…. keep stirring… Until it’s thickened and ready to eat.
I’ve always topped my cream of wheat with cinnamon, and lately I’ve been adding berries as well. It’s absolutely delightful.

- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tsp unsalted butter
- pinch of fine salt
- 2 tbsp white granulated sugar
- ¼ cup boxed cream of wheat
- cinnamon (for topping)
- handful of fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc, for topping)
- In a small saucepan, warm milk over medium heat until simmering.
- Stir in butter and salt.
- Add sugar and cream of wheat. Stir constantly until thickened to desired consistency.
- Pour into bowls and top with desired amount of cinnamon and berries. Serve immediately.
